Eyes On Your Own Paper

Had to share this from one of the blogs I follow, since it was good reading and I'm totally involved in editing photographs.

Busy Weekend

Full weekend for me. Saturday morning was cold, and I was running late, so I passed up a good chance to get a photo run-by of the Norfolk Southern #630 steam engine, but I cycled out to Yadkin and caught it returning from an excursion trip.

On the trip home, I decided to swing by Skipjack Nautical Antiques & Marine Gallery where they were celebrating their ten year anniversary. I was not dressed for this, although I did have on my Skipjack sweatshirt and was wearing my Skipjack hat. They let me hangout and shoot some photos and eat and join the merriment.
Joe and Alison Elder have put their hearts and souls into this venture and it has become one of the best spots on the east coast. Well done, my friends!
They really know how to party and spared no expense in sharing their hospitality and showing their appreciation. It hasn't been smooth sailing the whole time. (read more on their Website (About Us)) but they pressed on and returned with a commendable recovery. We are fortunate to have them as friends and neighbors and supporters of the community.

There are more photos (on Facebook) and more awesome food, enough for an army. And a navy.

Photo Editing

As most of my followers know, I love to do photo editing. For you new followers, here are some links.
I inherited most of my talent from my Mom, who did it the old school way with oils and brushes. Then I tweaked my skills with practice and more practice. Some of my accomplishments are seen in my Flickr Gallery and some more are on my Facebook page. Check them out and feel free to leave a comment or a challenge.

These aren't in the album yet. Still editing.

I just learned that the dress is the wrong color. Something to do with filters or white balance settings. This is a little closer to the actual color.

HMS Falken in Port of Norfolk

Välkommen till Norfolk, där vädret ändras varje dag.

The Marine Training Vessle from Sweden, the Falken, was given a safe port earlier than expected and I missed her arrival, but I braved the wind, cold and rain and cycled over to Norfolk to get some photos. More this week as she opens her gangway to visitors.

Great Day

Just wanted to post a quick note about my visit to Jen Care today. I felt better as soon as I entered.  Especially with the complimentary cookies and hot cocoa. Not that I was feeling bad or anything. Very friendly and professional staff and doctors. I felt very comfortable the whole time. It renewed my faith in the medical community. Today, I had an ultrasound exam and I should have made a video with my bike cam.

I'm thankful somebody is finally thinking about us Seniors and our well-being,

New Eatery

Sal's Famous Airline Blvd. Housed in the former Terri's (and for you from my generation, Tastee Freeze) place.
I started with the basic cheese pizza, 2 big slices and a drink > $5. Good, too. Will return for some more fancy stuff and photos. Maybe even some video of throwing pizzas.
