I have become a Peetnik
Since my daughter has become a distributor for Peet's Coffee & Tea , I have been enjoying my favorite beverage to the fullest. Now I get to sample all the blends of the finest coffee I've ever tasted. I was never an aficionado, but I know good coffee.
So I did a little snooping on the Net and discovered that I'm not alone. When I Googled my favorite, Major Dickason's Blend, I was impressed with all the reviews. I have posted the links to some of them below.
from SAVEUR Culinary Magazine:
PEET'S COFFEE & TEA, MAJOR DICKASON'S BLEND (Berkeley, California; $12.95 for 1 pound) Established in 1966, Peet's was among the first American companies to source and roast beans to order. (In fact, when Starbucks started up, Peet's supplied it with coffee and trained its staff.) This blend of Central American and Indo-Pacific beans, the company's signature product, possesses a mellow nose and an intense but round, nutty taste.

Go to the website and find a source nearby. If you're fortunate enough to live on the Left Coast, you already know about Peet's and it's popularity. They even have outlets where you can sit and relax with friends while taking pleasure in sipping your brew. But for now, I'll enjoy mine on my patio, which is where I'm heading as soon as I brew a cup.

ENJOY !

How to Make Instant Friends
When the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race participants gathered in Portsmouth for their annual (24th) festival and award ceremony, I shared some Peet's coffee with some of the crews. I think I brought smiles to many peoples' faces that weekend.

New trend ? Been doing it for years. It always freaks out the waitress and the people nearby.

Playlist
Here is a little information on the first song in my Playlist (Ashokan Farewell). I'm sure everyone is familiar with the tune, but did you know it's origin?

Not Olde Towne, but still Portsmouth.
The Hometowne Diner has opened at the old home of Rodman's Bones and Buddies, next to the BP station across from Maryview (Bon Secours) Hospital. More details and menu later. Here are some pics from the first day. Looks like we have a winner!
