Parade of Sail - Harborfest / 2010
The Kalmar Nyckel, Delaware's seagoing goodwill ambassador, is in town and I promised some members of the crew that I'd post some links to some of the attractions and exciting things going on in Portsmouth. The Kalmar Nyckel is a replica 1625 Dutch 200 ton Pinnace and will be the lead Tall Ship in the Harborfest Parade of Sail.
The original Kalmar Nyckel was one of America's pioneering colonial ships. She sailed from Sweden to the New World in 1638 leaving its passengers to establish the first permanent European settlement in the Delaware Valley, the Colony of the New Sweden in present-day Wilmington, Delaware.
